Submersible Motors

have placed many hundreds of Sumoto motors into service. A
high percentage of these motors are installed where stator welds and
shaft corrosion have been experienced with other makes, especially
in the 4" range.
Sumoto
is a very well established and respected submersible motor manufacturer
who supply large numbers of submersible motors to Ebara of Japan which,
in itself, is an indication of the reliability and exceptional performance
of the motors.

In addition
to very high build quality, the motor standards are also to
high specifications. The standard construction motor being all
stainless steel with nickel-plated top bearing housings and
303 stainless steel shaft, a standard which experience has shown
to perform well in applications where previously bronze or ni-resist
motors have been used.
The Sumoto
is filled with a non-toxic white mineral oil approved by the
United States Food and Drug Administration. This enables the
Sumoto motor to operate at much higher ambient temperatures,
the datum used being maximum ambient 40 degrees C., with minimum
0.15 metres per second velocity cooling water. A number of other
benefits are inherent with this system of internal lubrication
and cooling, including maintenance of motor efficiency due to
lack of internal corrosion, which is normal with water-filled
motors.

The Sumoto range
of motors is from 3" to 6". Plug-in leads are standard for
4" motors. The stainless steel construction factory fitted with
a PT-100 R.T.D. thermal protection device.
It will be seen
from the information herewith that the motor range covers:-
- 3" Single
phase to 0.75kw
Three phase to 1.1 kw
OP3 Series
Thanks to its range of 3" submersible motors OP3, Sumoto is
now able to offer a valid instrument for the solution of problems
due to well dimensions. The OP3-type is the outcome of a consistent
design effort arising from the need to solve all the problems linked
to reduced space. The motor still preserves the splined-shaft coupling
system typical of the NEMA regulations. The electromechanical specifications
are undoubtedly interesting and complying with all application requirements.
Each motor is supplied with a 1.8m long sealed cable directly connected
with the winding.

OP4 Series
The series of 4" submersible motors OP4 represent a new standard
in quality and refined technology. The improved mechanical design
combined with the most optimised efficiency in electromagnetic design

conditions. Thanks to the simple construction components can be
easily reached and motor can be repaired with simple tools.

and manufactured according to the same level of quality and reliablitity
already raised on the OP4 series.
