MACmoulds - Lightweight Moulding Profiles
MACmoulds are the versatile alternative to all internal and external moulding requirements. Both durable and lightweight, MACmoulds are an easy and inexpensive way to provide added visual appeal to your building project.

Composition:
MACmoulds are made from an acrylic modified, fibre reinforced cementitious material. The life expectancy of MACmoulds under normal conditions can be expected to exceed that of conventional cement based products. The addition of selected fillers and performance enhancing materials in carefully measured quantities ensures MACmoulds will provide long life decoration for your building project.
Product Range:
The MACmould catalog is extensive and can accommodate most requirements. Profiles can however be customized and with the help of the latest CAD technology, MAC can easily design and produce a MACmould specifically for you.

Application:
Lightweight Solids:
Small profiles produced by MAC are generally supplied as lightweight solids. Prior to fixing, the profile must be drilled in order to accommodate the mechanical fasteners required to hold the mould in position. As a rule, an entire MACmoulds profile, either 2400mm or 3000mm, requires 3 fasteners. Once the holes have been drilled, an 8mm bead of polyurethane sealant (HILTI construction sealant or Bostik Seal 'n' Flex) must be applied to the contact face of the profile along both top and bottom edges. The profile can then be placed against the substrate and pushed gently into position. When in its final position, drill and fix with approved anchors (HILTI HPS Impact Anchors). MACmould profiles less than 2000mm will require only 2 anchors per length. Wipe away excess sealant.
Lightweight Cored Profiles:
Larger profiles produced by MAC are supplied with a lightweight core. This core is totally encased by a 10mm skin of the same material used in our smaller solid profiles. The skin provides outstanding strength and durability whilst the core keeps unwanted and unnecessary weight to a minimum. Cored profiles are fixed in the same manner as lightweight solids however larger profiles may require additional anchors drilled into the wall at an angle of 45 degrees on the top edge.
MACmoulds being cement based are subject to small amounts of expansion and contraction due to prevailing climatic conditions. For this reason, end to end joints should be allowed a 5mm gap between profiles. This gap can then be neatly filled with polyurethane construction grade sealant.

Supply:
MACmoulds are supplied as 3000mm / 2400mm lengths in Lightweight Solids and 2400mm lengths only in Lightweight Cored profiles.

Acrylic Modified Renders
MACrender(tm) is a factory blended, ready to use cementitious render prepackaged in 20kg plastic lined multi-walled paper sacks. MACrender(tm), used in conjunction with MACbond(tm), is a water resistant, acrylic modified cement based plaster suitable for many render and patching applications over substrates including clay and cement bricks/blocks, painted masonry surfaces, EPS Expanded Polystyrene (used in conjunction with approved alkali resistant fibreglass mesh), preformed concrete panels and aerated concrete blocks. MACrender(tm) is primarily designed as a skim coat render best applied at thicknesses ranging from 3mm to 6mm. It should be noted that MACrender(tm), applied to a clean and stable substrate, will not display typical 'sand and cement' weaknesses such as herringbone cracking and drumminess, thus greatly reducing the risk of undertaking costly and unsightly repair work.
Trowel-On Texture Coatings MACtexture is a premium quality acrylic interior / exterior wall coating suitable for many different applications. Because of its ease of use, competent tradesmen using MACtexture can achieve the highest quality finishes available.
Mediterranean Render Inspired by the rustic beauty of Venice and Tuscany, MAC has produced a wall finish that provides an interesting alternative to that of acrylic texture coating. MACstucco is a cementitious dry-mix product, specially formulated to develop a patina with exposure to weather.
Acrylic Patching Compund MACpatch is a specially formulated acrylic based compound designed for patching joints in fibrous cement (FC) sheeting. It combines strength with flexibility, making it the ideal solution for most patching applications.
MACbond
A specially formulated additive designed to further enhance the performance of MACrender(tm). MACbond(tm) is added to water in various ratios to make up the 'gauge' required for the mixing. MACrender(tm) powder is added to the 'gauge to produce the desired amount of material. The addition of MACbond(tm) 'gauge' to the render greatly improves adhesion, flexural/compressive strength and moisture / chemical resistance.
MACbond(tm): Water ratios
Cement or clay bricks : 1 : 19
Aerated concrete blocks 2 : 18
Precast concrete panels 3 : 17
Painted surfaces 4 : 16
Expanded Polystyrene 4 : 16
FC. Sheeting 4 : 16
NB. MACbond(tm) must be used in the preparation of MACrender(tm).
Mixing:
Add to one 20 litre pail sufficient 'gauge' to mix the amount of material required. Add MACrender(tm) powder to the 'gauge' whilst stirring. The use of a mechanical stirrer is preferred however manual stirrers will suffice. Add MACrender(tm) powder until a thick, creamy, lump free paste has been achieved. As a guide to the correct consistency, the mixed render should hold a stiff peak on the hawk. If the mixture is too wet, it can be messy to apply and slow to finish up. If the material is too dry it may harden too quickly and be difficult to apply.
Application:
Prior to the application of MACrender(tm), ensure that the substrate is clean and free of adhesion inhibiting materials such as grease, fungus, moss, dirt, excessive water and mould release agents. Apply the mixture to the substrate using a steel float, taking care to coat evenly (refer MACbond(tm.): Water ratios). Allow the applied material to firm up sufficiently on the substrate prior to finishing with a large plastic, polystyrene or timber float. Larger floats whilst producing the best results, may marginally slow finishing time. MACrender(tm) can be 'ruled-of' if necessary and must be allowed to cure for a minimum of 3 days prior to the application of an applied finish. MACrender(tm) should not be applied during extremely hot or windy conditions and should be protected from rain or running water until set. To assist curing, walls may be dampened with a fine mist spray as soon as the surface is firm. The water should not be allowed to run down the wall surface.
Coverage:
When mixed and applied in accordance with the above mentioned specification 20kgs of MACrender(tm) will cover approximately 3 - 5 square metres.
Technical Data:
Water requirement 4 - 5 litres / 20kg Density 1.85
Typical compressive strength 1 day l greater than 1.5 Mpa
7 days greater than 3.0 Mpa
28 days greater than 6.0 Mpa
Safety:
MACrender(tm) is non-toxic, however it contains cement which is alkaline in nature. Any material (wet or dry) coming into contact with eyes or skin should be immediately flushed with fresh water. The use of hand and skin protection is recommended when using MACrender(tm).
Packaging:
MACrender(tm) comes prepackaged in 20kg plastic lined, multi-walled paper sack.
MACtexture
MACtexture is supplied premixed in 15 litre plastic pails and can be tinted to a wide variety of colours from most popular ranges. MACtexture is best suited to application over MACrender but with correct surface preparation can be used over many common building materials including FC sheet, precast concrete panels and conventional cement render.
Composition:
MACtexture is manufactured using only the highest quality raw materials including acrylic emulsions, graded iron oxide free sands, marble aggregates, fungicides and selected fillers.
Product Range:
MACtexture is available in five different trowel-on textured coatings:
MACfine: The smoothest of our acrylic finishes, this product is applied to the substrate with a steel float at a thickness governed by the size of the largest aggregates. Once applied, the material should be finished in a circular motion with a hard plastic float.
MACsandstone 30/60: The same formulation as MACfine but with slightly coarser sand particle sizes. Applied and finished in the same manner.
MACsandfinish 18/40: The coarsest of our non- scratching texture coatings, this product is the same formulation as MACfine but with much larger sand particle sizes. Applied and finished in the same manner.
MAC 1mm Trowel: The finest of our 'scratch coats', this product is applied with a steel float to a thickness governed by the largest particle size. Once applied, the material should be finished in a circular motion with a hard plastic or polystyrene float. When applying 'scratch coats', the selection of finishing float is important in determining the appearance of the final coating. Hard floats will produce a smoother finish while softer floats produce a coarser, more textured appearance.
MAC 2mm Trowel: The same formulation as MAC 1mm Trowel but with the addition of 2mm aggregates designed to provide a heavily textured appearance. This material is generally floated in a vertical motion with a polystyrene float.
Application:
All MACtexture finishes are first troweled onto the substrate at a thickness determined by the coarsest particles. The material is then floated while wet using the appropriate tools. In order to maintain a 'wet edge', it is advisable not to apply MACtexture coatings in hot and/or windy conditions. It should be noted that porous substrates such as traditional cement render and FC sheet should first be treated with one coat of MACprime acrylic sealer to improve adhesion and reduce suction. MACtexture should only be applied in temperatures ranging between 16 and 26 degrees Celsius. Application in hot or windy conditions may result in difficulties due to shortened drying times. Newly coated areas should be protected from rain and moisture for a period not less than 24 hours from the time of application.
Coverage:
When applied in strict accordance with our specification, expected coverage for each material is as follows:
MACfine: 15 litres / 20 square metres
MACsandstone: 15 litres / 15 square metres
MACsandfinish: 15 litres / 13 square metres
MAC 1mm trowel: 15 litres / 13 square metres
MAC 2mm trowel: 15 litres / 9 square metres
Wash Up:
As MACtexture is water-based material, tools can be easily washed up in clean water. MACtexture should be washed from tools immediately after use as dry material will prove very difficult to remove.
MACstucco
Composition:
MACstucco is manufactured using finely graded sands, off white cement, acrylic modifiers and small quantities of various products to enhance workability.
Gauge:
A specially formulated additive designed to further enhance the performance of MACstucco. Gauge is tinted to the desired colour prior to dispatch, and should be thoroughly mixed on site before it is added to the dry-mix. Preparation of MACstucco requires only the addition of Gauge. No extra water should be used.
Mixing:
Add to one 20 litre pail sufficient Gauge to mix the amount of material required. Add MACstucco powder to the Gauge whilst stirring. The use of a mechanical stirrer is preferred however manual stirrers will suffice. Add MACstucco powder until a thick, creamy, lump free paste has been achieved. As a guide to the correct consistency, the mixed render should hold a soft peak on the hawk. If the mixture is too wet, it can be messy to apply and slow to finish up. If the material is too dry it may harden too quickly and be difficult to apply. Water requirement 4 - 5 litres / 20kg.
Application:
Ensure that the substrate is clean and free of adhesion inhibiting materials such as grease, fungus, moss, dirt, excessive water and mould release agents. Prior to the application of Stucco, apply one coat of MACprime (thinned 30% with water) to the substrate at a rate of approximately 0.2 litres/square metre and allow to dry overnight. Apply the mixture to the substrate using a steel float, taking care to coat evenly at a thickness between 3-5 mm. Allow the applied material to firm up sufficiently on the substrate prior to finishing with a plastic, polystyrene, timber or sponge float. MACstucco should not be applied during extremely hot or windy conditions and should be protected from rain or running water for a minimum of 48 hours from time of application. Should freshly applied walls be subjected to water within this 48 hour period, pronounced lime discolouration may become apparent. It must be stressed that MACstucco is a mineral finish and is not designed to possess the more consistent colouring characteristics of acrylic textured coatings. Excessive lime discolouration can be scrubbed from the surface if necessary with a stiff brush when the material is fully cured.
Coverage:
When mixed and applied in accordance with the above mentioned specification 20kgs of MACstucco wiil cover approximately 10-15 square metres.
Safety:
MACstucco is non-toxic, however it contains cement and lime which is alkaline in nature. Any material (wet or dry) coming into contact with eyes or skin should be immediately flushed with fresh water. The use of hand and skin protection is recommended when using MACstucco.
Packaging:
MACstucco comes prepackaged in 20kg plastic lined, multi-walled paper sack.
MACpatch
Composition:
MACpatch is manufactured using only the highest quality raw materials available. it consists primarily of selected fillers, fungicides, preservatives and specially graded sands incorporated in an acrylic copolymer emulsion.
Function:
MACpatch is designed as a jointing compound for stopping joints in FC sheeting, When mixed with cement at a rate of approximately 5% by weight it can also be used as a low build skim render. MACpatch, when used as a low build base coat displays levels of adhesion and flexibility not found in conventional cementitious renders. If a higher build is required, MACpatch can be mixed with MACrender at a ratio of 1: 3. The blending of these two materials combines the higher build qualities of MACrender whilst still retaining the flexural properties of MACpatch.
Application:
Prior to application of MACpatch, ensure the substrate is clean and free of any damaged or loose material. Care should be taken to remove any greasy or oily materials that may inhibit adhesion. When stopping joints in FC sheet be sure a 3-4mm gap exists between the individual panels. This gap will allow for minor expansion in the finished wall. Areas to be jointed should first be primed with one coat of MACprime thinned 30% with clean water. Using a trowel, spatula or similar tool, work MACpatch into the joint. Ensure the material completely fills the gap between the sheeting. Apply a single strip of 70mm MACtape (alkali resistant fibreglass tape) to the joint and trowel into the freshly applied material. When the FG tape is fully bedded, skim over with one final coat of MACpatch. Problem areas such as joints less than 1.5 metres in length should be treated with 2 strips of MACtape .
Coverage:
Coverage rates vary depending on substrate and application. As an approximate guide, 15 litres of MACpatch will be sufficient to stop approximately 60 lineal metres of FC sheet joints.
Wash Up:
As MACpatch is water-based material, tools can be easily washed up in clean water. MACpatch should be washed from tools immediately after use as dry material will prove very difficult to remove.
Packaging:
MACpatch is supplied 'ready to use' in 15 litre pails. Smaller pack sizes are available on request.
